First doctor appointment and the wonder of poop

Carver had his first doctor appt yesterday. He weighs 6lb 14oz now but that should be going back up since my milk came in monday. I was a little concerned that Carver hadn't pooped since Saturday morning but the Dr said that since he has pooped (6 times within 24hrs ofbeing born to be exact) that it obvious his system is working. Carver got the first round of his Hepititis B vaccine and we scheduled his circumcision for Friday morning.

Later in the day yesterday, Carver had a MASSIVE poop!!! I never thought I'd be so excited about poop. haha We had to give him a bath it was so bad. And then Chris and I both called our moms to tell them the good news. haha The wonders of being a parent.

Welcome to the world Carver James!!!

He's finally here!!!!! He was born after a very long labor on Friday June 19th at 12:59am. He weighed 7lb 6oz and was 20in long. He scored a 9/9 on his Apgar tests and is perfect. The Dr had to use a vacuum to get him out so he has a couple small bruises on his head but other than that, he's healthy.

We stayed in the hospital for about 36hrs for recovery. While we were there, they checked his weight again (he dropped 4oz - totally normal), gave him his first bath, did a PKU test and a hearing/neurological test. The hearing test checks to make sure he can hear. The average score is a 160 and Carver scored 263. It measures the pathways in the brain so the lab tech that did the test said that he should be really smart. :)

Here's some pictures from the birth and first day...

Hooked up to all the monitors.

Not the best one of me but its the first picture taken of Carver.

Jake's Grad Party pictures

I know these are a little late but here's a few pictures from Jake's graduation party. It was with 9 other senior guys. The 10 of them have been in the same bible study/Campainers group since 6th grade.

FULL TERM!!!

So I've made it to 38 weeks. I have to say, I've really enjoyed being pregnant and *gasp* don't want it to end yet. I could very well change my mind within the next week but I'm pretty content right now.

We went to the Dr yesterday - yes, Chris finally was able to go with me again. He's been really busy with work but he figured it out so that he could come yesterday. :) Anyways, I finally got my first internal exam. My cervix is about 80% thinned and I'm not dilated yet. The Dr is pretty sure that I'll make it to my appt next friday but he's thinking that I'll most likely go into labor before my due date. Yea!!! I feel so much better knowing the status.

My swing arrived on wednesday. Kim had bought it for us at Babies R Us but when I got it home and started putting it together, there was a big rip in the back of the fabric. So I took it back and they didn't have anymore in stock so I ordered it online. The best part was that my rewards card didn't deduct the points when I returned the first swing so I got double the points! Anyways, it arrived Wed and I set it up and now it's sitting in the living room just waiting to be used. :)

Today we're going to a graduation party for one of the boys that grew up down the street from Chris and is like a brother to him. He was also in our wedding. I'm praying that my water doesn't break while we're there (and the fact that my dr is out of town this weekend). :)

That's about it for now. Here's the weekly survey to fill you in on anything I forgot.

How far along? 38wks 0 days
Total weight gain/loss: up 26lbs (3lbs from last wk and 1lb from this week)
Maternity clothes? I'm tired of wearing the same clothes!!!! I've broken out my yoga pants and have been wearing those.
Stretch marks? nothing new
Sleep: I've actually been sleeping through the night! I get up around 5-5:30 to go to the bathroom and then go back to sleep until about 7am. Its great!
Best moment this week: Dr's appt, getting a wedding gift for one friend, and a baby shower gift for another (getting things accomplished)
Movement: still rolling around in there. I'll probably miss this the most
Food cravings: lemonade
Gender: Still a boy
Labor Signs: braxton hicks and pressure
Belly Button in or out? half the day its in, then it pops out for the second half
What I miss: not having to go to the bathroom every 15min
What I am looking forward to: Grad party today, PHS Grad tomorrow, possibly going into labor this week
Weekly Wisdom: don't push yourself and stand too long - just creates a lot of pressure and that's no fun
Milestones: 80% thinned, first internal exam, FULL TERM!

Seriously!

First, I want to say that I had a very hormonal morning. Jake graduated HS last night and both boys left for Malibu this morning. Needless to say, the hormones took over.

Anyways, I had a Dr appt this morning. NO INTERNAL!!!! Given, they've never actually said that I'd be getting one at my previous appts but still... I thought I would've gotten one today. Oh well. I'm not too concerned about it. I got an ultrasound to make sure Carver is head down (he is!) and we checked fluid levels around him (good levels) and looked at his heart (beating away for his mommy). My uterus was measured and I'm right on schedule.

Now for the questions... (1) How big is he? - 6.5lbs and will probably be 7.5lbs when I deliver (this was how much I weighed when I was born); (2) Do you (the dr) think I'll be early/late? - hard to say, aka my size has no relevence to when I'll deliver.Oh... and I gained... 3lbs this week... yes I said 'week'. I was trying to gain weight since I hadn't gained any in the two previous weeks.

Hopefully Chris will be able to go to my next appt with me. He's been swamped with work and hasn't been able to take time off to come to my appts with me. I'd rather him make money than come to a 15min appt with me but it'd still be nice to have him there. Oh well.

37 weeks

First here's an update about my dr appt last friday...
  • I didn't get my first internal (that will be tomorrow)
  • I'm going to the doctor every week now
  • The Group B Strep test was not nearly as bad as I thought it would be
  • Carver weighs about 5.5lbs and we're pretty sure is head down (we'll know better tomorrow)
  • The dr let us go to Ellensburg for the weekend to be at Jake's graduation party and see the boys one last time before they go to Malibu
  • I asked what his policy is on episiotomies and he said that unless it's absolutely necessary, or I'm tearing, he doesn't do them.
We got to spend the weekend with my family in the burg and the heat. It was in the upper 80s-90s the whole weekend. On saturday we went down to Selah to cheer on the Girls Fastpitch team in the State Championship game. It was a really good game and the girls played their hearts out. Jake's party was on sunday. It was the whole Campainer group so there was 10 graduates there... aka big party. It was a lot of fun and we got to see a lot of people that we haven't seen in a while. Then we had to come home. :(

It was my last trip anywhere until after monkey comes so that was sad. I'm pretty much homebound until I deliver now. I can go up to an hour away but I'm not too comfortable going many places by myself.

We finally bought a portable air conditioner a couple nights ago. We've been talking about it and were definitely planning on getting one before monkey comes so it worked out. It definitely helps keep the house cooler. :)

Chris has been helping Kim and Greg with their front lawn. He's installing a sprinkler system for them and 'advising' them on how to go about doing things. So Kim said that she wanted to get us a couple big things off of our registry to thank us. We tried to turn her down but she insisted. So Kim and I went to Babies R Us and she got us a swing, the boppy and slipcover, and the mobile for the crib! I had a couple coupons so we used those and we walked out of there spending less than we expected! Thanks Kim!!!!

How far along? 37wks 0 days
Total weight gain/loss: up 22lbs still (i didn't gain any weight at my last appt)
Maternity clothes? I had to buy a pair of shorts and a dress yesterday (not maternity)... too hot out for my capris but I should still be able to wear them later
Stretch marks? nothing new
Sleep: I've been getting too hot and uncomfortable to sleep
Best moment this week: going to Ellensburg, getting A/C, Kim taking me shopping for stuff on our registry
Movement: movement has slowed down a little but not much... still likes to be on the go
Food cravings: strawberries and water
Gender: Still a boy
Labor Signs: braxton hicks and nesting
Belly Button in or out? still hasn't popped! its just a tiny crescent mark now
What I miss: sleeping on my stomach
What I am looking forward to: dr's appt tomorrow
Weekly Wisdom: Let Chris do things for you instead of trying to do them yourself (he wouldn't let me push the cart at Costco last night haha)
Milestones: Got the Swing, boppy & cover, and mobile **Thanks Auntie Kim**
