Memorial Day Weekend... so far!

I know it's only Saturday but I had the time to sit down and figured I'd let you know how yesterday went in case I don't get a chance to update for awhile.

I talked Chris into taking Friday off (as well as Monday, of course) because mom and her friend were going to be in town and wanted to spend the day in Seattle with us. So they came to our house in the morning and we drove up to Bremerton to catch the ferry to Seattle. It was Carver's first time on a ferry and we think he enjoyed it. haha He wasn't overly excited but he wasn't freaked out by all the moving water. It was kinda misting and Seattle had a little fog so we didn't get the great cityscape picture that you'd get from the ferry on a sunny day.

When we got off the ferry we parked the cars and walked down to Ivars for a late lunch. Yummy fish 'n chips! Then we walked up to Pike's Place market and walked through. Carver LOVED it! He got to see the fish being thrown and all the interesting stalls of fun stuff to buy. He was fascinated by all the musicians/singers on the sidewalks. We walked over to the original Starbucks Coffee & Tea (the original name of Starbucks, FYI) to get a coffee and of course a mug. I seem to buy a new coffee mug or travel mug every time we go there. haha Carver was so cute the whole time. He would lean forward and hold onto the snack tray on his stroller like he was driving the stroller. haha I wish I'd gotten a picture of it.

After we left Pike's, we stopped at Snoqualmie Falls since Chris and mom's friend had never been there before. Then we SLOWLY made our way to Ellensburg. The traffic was horrible because of construction. But it gave me a chance to finish Ayami's baby announcements. No sense in letting that time go to waste right? I actually finished all 50 announcements while we were inching along! We finally got to Mom's house around 8pm and Carver was wired! Needless to say I couldn't get him to sleep until about 10pm.

Today, we went to Yakima to run a couple errands and mom got Carver a new dump truck that he can sit on, stand behind, or pull. Chris just finished putting it together and they're testing it out. So far Carver likes it cause he has the biggest grin on his face. haha (The dump bucket tips up so he can sit and Chris can push him around.)

That's it for now. Mary and Josie (and maybe a couple other people) are coming out for dinner and to see Carver (of course! haha)

On the verge...

... of becoming 1 year old! Carver has officially been 11 months for 5 days. I'm so in love with the little boy Carver is right now and yet I'm sad that he's growing up too fast. It seems like yesterday that I was at the hospital holding this tiny little newborn in my arms for the first time.

I'm in the throws of party planning but here's a few things that's going on in the life of Carver.

  • He now eats food for lunch and dinner. His menus consist of rice (for lunch and dinner), carrots, acorn and butternut squash, sweet potatoes, green beans, peas, and applesauce. I'm still making all of the food and Carver loves it! We forgot his food when we went to mom's for the weekend and we had to buy baby food. It tasted disgusting! and it was mostly water. Carver would barely eat it.
  • Carver loves to stand up and tries to crawl up onto the couch (except he's still a little too short haha)
  • He has his front 4 teeth and the second set of upper fronts (the outside front teeth if that makes sense) are on their way in at the same time... which makes for some irritated gums :( poor buddy.
  • He says everything da - dada, di, do, etc. As soon as he learned how to say dada, he's refused to say mama... until yesterday. :) He won't say it outright to me but i hear it when he's playing.
  • He LOVES reading his books. He'll pull them off his bookcase and turn the pages and giggle. He'll even lay down on his belly and 'read'. I've yet to get a picture of it but it's adorable!
  • He plays catch with Chris. He'll actually throw the ball.
  • He loves to play in the garden with Chris. He actually climbed into one of the raised beds today and played with the worms. haha But he dropped them when they started squirming in his fingers.
  • He just loves his daddy. He'll follow Chris up and down the house as soon as Chris gets home from work. He becomes Chris's shadow.
That's it for now. I'm sure I forgot something but I need to get some sleep. Goodnight Moon!

Helping daddy in the garden

Welcome Reina Lillian!

My 'sister' Ayami gave birth to a baby girl Sunday morning at 12:21am. They named her Reina Lillian. She weighed 7lb 12oz and was 20.75in long. We got to see her later that morning and she is absolutely BEAUTIFUL! Good job you guys! :)

EDITED: I was asked by the family to take the pictures of Reina down.

Welcome Coleman Thomas!!!

On May 11th, one of my best friend's, Holly, gave birth to her son, Coleman. Holly and Kim are best friends and now their sons will be a day apart! I like to say that Coleman didn't want to share his birthday so he came the morning after Tyler was born.

Holly had a fast labor - 7 hours in all! Coleman was born at 9:07am after 2 pushes. He weighed 7lb 15oz and was 21in long. Big baby!! Mama and baby are both doing good and Maggie LOVES her little brother!

Welcome Tyler Michael!!!

Kim had a scheduled c-section May 10th at 2:00pm. They decided to keep the name a surprise so we didn't know his name until he was here. :) Tyler was born at 2:35pm and weighed 6lb 13oz and was 20in long. He's precious! They got to come home yesterday (5/12) from the hospital and are getting settled in at home.

The proud papa!

Mama and her baby!

Carver was so excited to meet his cousin, he couldn't sit still!

Anniversary/Birthday/Mother's Day

May 1st: We decided to go out to dinner for our anniversary a couple days early. So we went to Olive Garden. We LOVE Olive Garden and so does Carver now. haha He loves his breadsticks and is anxiously waiting for the day that he can food from mama's plate. :)

May 3rd: Mallorie got to come over (finally!) to help me with the birth announcements I'm making for Ayami. Chris brought me some flowers to celebrate our anniversary. We agreed to not exchange gifts this year so it was pretty low key.

May 7-9th: We spent the weekend in Ellensburg!

May 8th: My 25th Birthday! I feel so old! haha Chris and Carver got me a flip camcorder so we can take videos of Carver. :) Mom got me a candle holder that I've been wanting. Grandma Pat drove over to celebrate with me and Mary came down for dinner.

May 9th: We went to church and then hung out at mom's house. On the way home, we stopped in North Bend to walk through the shops. Then when we finally made it back to Gig Harbor, we stopped by Chris's parents' house to pick up some shrimp that they caught (YUM!) and give Debbie her Mother's Day present. Then we came home and vegged.
